Blow It Up!

I am honored and excited to have received an invitation to play in the GDR Champion's League this season.

When my team assignment arrived this morning, I logged in with an incredible amount of anticipation. Would I have Johan, A-Rod, Carpenter, Halladay, or all of them already signed up to play for my team?

Then the surprise came in the form of the roster that I acquired which had 6 players signed for $40M. Here are the contracts that were left for me:

F. Hernandez - $13.0M/2Y/NT
A. Dunn - $8.0M/1Y/NT
Z. Duke - $7.5M/2Y
R. Zimmerman - $5.0M/2Y
J. Thome - $4.0M/1Y
M. Loretta - $2.5M/1Y

The contract extension list was lengthy, but no one jumped out at me. I even checked the Prospect list and found only 1 name on it that I recognized.

I guess this shouldn't be much of a suprise as I inherited the Calgarian Cannibals. The team finished 8-16 last year in 15th place. I guess this is what happens when you put a Canadian in charge of an American sports team, eh?

The decision about whether or not to have a firesale was easy. Get a stick of dynamite and blow this roster up! The team has been reincarnated as Rio's Sun Dogs and will play this season in our brand new stadium 'The Dog Park' and with an exciting new roster.

This is going to be a challenging season in a 16 team league with practically all of the superstars tied up for 1 or 2 more years. It looks like I'm going to have to throw a lot of money at a bunch of scrubs to get this roster filled and pray for some breakout seasons. I may be in a tough position, but at least I have the cash!

Good luck to all and feel free to toss me a bone or two!
